College of Marin Track & Field Debuts At DVC Hall of Fame Classic

Mariners Track & Field opened their 2019 campaign at Diablo Valley College on Friday, February 22nd. Four athletes competed for the black and gold as Myrron Minor, Brandon Lee and Elana Smith Callies made their freshman debuts. Sophomore Grace Davis returned after a redshirt season as well to complete the four-member squad.

Brandon Lee and Myrron Minor started the day for the Mariners with the long jump competition. Lee reached 5.50 meters, a personal record, besting his high school distance. Minor also did well, posting a best distance of 4.66 meters.

Minor also competed in the 100-meter dash, he was first in his heat with a time of 12.04 seconds. The Freshman placed 26th out of 36 racers in the competition.

Elana Smith Callies began her Mariners' track career in the 800-meter run. She finished with a time of 2:44.91 good for an eighth-place finish of 15 runners. After the meet it was determined her time placed her 11th on the Northern California Performance List.

Grace Davis began her second season with the Mariners in the 400-meter dash. She clocked in a time of 67.56 seconds good for fourth place in her heat.

It was an excellent start to the season for College of Marin Track & Field. Next up is the Aggie Open at UC Davis on Saturday, March 9th.
