Mariners’ Track & Field Finishes 2019 Regular Season At CSM Last Chance Meet

The College of Marin Track team had a strong showing at their last meet of the regular season. Four athletes competed in at College of San Mateo in the Last Chance meet with several personal records and excellent finishes. Myrron Minor and Grace Davis each took first place in their respective heats.

Minor lead the way in the third section of the 100-meter finals. He took first place in 11.54 seconds, just a hundredth of a second ahead of Linus Gantar of San Mateo.  It was an impressive personal record for Minor who bested his previous record of 12.00 seconds. In the field of 31 competitors, Minor took 10th overall 0.78 seconds behind the top finisher.

Megan Bartschat took second place in the 1500-meter run. She finished in 5:03.01 just three seconds behind the victor. Her time was a personal record as well as a College of Marin record. Her time placed her fourth in the Big Eight Conference, sixth in Northern California and 19th in the whole of California. The sophomore also raced in the 800-meter finals and took seventh in a time of 2:47.51.

Grace Davis competed for the first time since February, but the rust did not show. She took first place her 200-meter heat with a time of 28.01 seconds, just off her personal record. Overall, she finished in eighth place of 12 racers.

Brandon Lee set a personal record in the 400-meter finals with a time of 55.16 seconds. He placed 14th overall, 4.8 seconds off the top finish. He bested his previous record of 55.43 seconds a week before at the East Bay Invitational.

The Mariners compete next at the Big Eight Conference Championships. They take place on Monday the 22nd and Thursday the 25th.
