Zoe Davis Represents Mariners at the Jim Linthicum Invitational

Field athlete Zoe Davis was Marin's lone representative at the Jim Linthicum Invitational at De Anza College in Cupertino on Saturday. The Sophomore from Novato High competed in both the Shot Put and Hammer Throw Competitions, posting top 15 finishes in each.

Davis opened the day with a distance of 9.72 meters in the Shot Put to finish first in her heat. Her second attempt was a tad shorter, but her distance held up to place her 12th amongst a strong field of 24 competitors. She finished a half meter behind the eighth-place finisher from American River College.

Davis also excelled in the Hammer Throw. Her technique differed from her competitors, utilizing a single spin, as opposed to the traditional two.  She still managed to chuck the hammer 31.73 meters, good for 15th place in the field of 22 throwers.

It was an excellent start to the 2020 season for Davis who has a few weeks off for training before she travels to the Jack Albiani Invite at Modesto College on Friday, March 13th.
