Women’s Basketball Earns First Road Win 72-61 Over Hartnell College

College of Marin Women's Basketball traveled to Salinas on Monday, and dominated the Panthers from Hartnell College in a convincing 72-61 victory. Kaleah Williams led the way for the Mariners with 20 points, while Victoria Lane, Maya Murry Pena and Janea Early all reached double figures on the scoresheet.

The Mariners jumped out to an early lead and really never looked back. At end of the first half they held a 42-27 advantage and managed that lead for the remainder of the game. Hartnell made a bit of a run in the third quarter but the Mariners managed to withstand it and cruised through the fourth quarter for a 72-61 victory.

Williams posted her best game of the season as she filled up the stat sheet while leading all scorers with 20 points. She was very efficient as she shot 6-11 from the floor including 4-7 from beyond the arc and was 4-4 from the charity stripe. Williams also added six rebounds, three assists and two steals on the evening.

Janea Early had a double double for the Mariners with 13 points, and 14 rebounds while dishing out six assists. Point Guard Victoria Lane had 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals. The Mariners outshot Hartnell 40.9% to 39.0%.

The Mariners have a long respite until traveling to Redding on Saturday, November 25th to face the Shasta College Knights.
