Mariners Outplay Hosts Yuba in 65-36 Victory

College of Marin Women's Basketball thoroughly out played their competition the Yuba College 49ers on Tuesday evening in Marysville.  From the outset it was clear the Mariners were the more skilled team in their second matchup of the year. After defeating Yuba by 31 at the Modesto Tournament, the Mariners held serve and beat the 49ers 65-36 on the road.

Marin scored early and often in the first and second quarters to take a commanding and comfortable lead into the halftime locker room. They eased up just a tad in the second half, but it still allowed Marin to control the game for the final minutes of play.

All five Mariners starters recorded a minimum of eight points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal. Janea Early led all scorers with 16 points and registered a team high 14 rebounds for her third consecutive double double, her 11th of the season.  Victoria Lane nearly missed a triple double with 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Maya Murry-Pena added 14 points on 7-13 shooting.

Yuba College was paced by Rachel Sprague who had 11 points including three made three pointers.

Next up for Marin is a road game against Napa Valley College on Wednesday, January 17th.
