Women’s Soccer Unable to Keep Pace With Mendocino College

The biggest issues for College of Marin Women's Soccer this year have been conditioning, fatigue and numbers. A week between games will help with fatigue, and more practice time will lead to better conditioning, however it is more difficult to create additional players. Playing with only 11 bodies, the Mariners struggled to create any offensive flow, as Mendocino methodically continued to score with regularity resulting in a 4-0 final score.

The Mariners did a solid job beginning the game moving the ball amongst their defense and midfield, but had a difficult job getting the ball to the forwards, Tatum Robach and Elise Perez. Defensively Maddie Bailey was stout in the center of the defense, and Christine Wilhoyte did an excellent job in midfield, however it was not enough to prevent Mendocino from scoring twice in the first half.

In the second half the familiar fatigue began to take hold for the 11 women in Mariner black. Mendocino was able to move the ball with ease and scored twice more for a 4-0 victory in Kentfield.

College of Marin has a pair of road games in the coming week, at Napa on Tuesday, October 11th and at Merritt College on Friday, October 14th
