COM Women’s Soccer Grabs First Win 1-0 Over Napa Valley College

A scoreless affair deep into the second half seemed destined for a 0-0 draw, but Elise Perez and Tatum Robach had something else in mind for the Mariners. Perez produced a remarkable dribble through the Napa Valley midfield and put a strong shot on goal. The Napa keeper parried the shot, which fell to Robach who finished to put Marin ahead for good 1-0

The first half featured a strong showing from College of Marin, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Defensively they managed the Napa attack well, defusing most attacks before they became threatening.

The second half saw Marin take the game to Napa, and in the 70th minute they had their breakthrough when Robach beat the Napa keeper on the rebound. Napa attempted to tie the game, but they were denied as the Mariners earned their first win of the season.  Robach scored her second goal of the year, while Casey Cavender earned in first shutout in goal with five saves.

The Mariners sit in fifth place in Bay Valley Conference play with a 1-2-1 record. They travel to Merritt College to face the Thunderbirds at 4:00PM on Friday, October 14th.
