Women's Soccer's Perez and Bailey Named To BVC All Conference 2nd Team

College of Marin Women's Soccer Team members Maddie Bailey and Elise Perez were named to the Bay Valley Conference All Conference Second Team. They were the backbone of the the team both in their on field play and as team leaders.

Maddie Bailey, the lone returner from last season, had a lot on her shoulders as Team Captain and stalwart in the central defense. Game in and game out she was a vocal leader, willing her team on from the back line, while throwing herself in front of menacing shots and heading away dangerous crosses. She was also superb on set pieces throughout the season, highlighted by a tremendous free kick goal from thirty yards out against Solano College on September 27th.

Elise Perez was hard to define in the 2016 season. That is, she played nearly every position throughout the year. In one match she would begin in the midfield, shift to attack, and then slide into central defense alongside Bailey. Whatever the team needed Perez was game. She most most adept at dribbling through multiple opponents before firing off a powerful shot, or setting up a teammate. In the second game of the season she out dribbled defenders before beating the keeper for her lone goal of the year against Siskiyous College. The Freshman is one of the rising stars that will return for Marin next fall.
