Juliana Transfers to Cal

Juliana Transfers to Cal

After a strong sophomore campaign on the soccer field and a stellar career academically, Juliana Oliveira Cortinhas has decided to transfer to UC Berkeley to pursue her academic interests.

This year on the field Juliana was a strong part of the Mariners offense. Starting in all 15 games on the season, she netted 9 goals and added 5 assists, helping the Mariners to another winning season. She also posted a jaw dropping .800 shooting percentage throughout her sophmore campaign. In a shortened 2019 season Juliana started in all 9 games and scored 1 goal on 2 assists.

In her time here at College of Marin she has been a staple of what we push for our student athletes. Good on field perfomance and even better classroom habits.

"Being accepted into CAL Berkeley has been a dream, I put in the work and effort so I am glad to see it pan out the way I have worked so hard for," said Oliveira Cortinhas.

Athletic Director Ryan Byrne noted, "We are all about student goal attainment. Out of high school it often feels impossible for students to get into Cal, but by coming to College of Marin they are able to carve a path to reach their goal. Juliana is a perfect example of that. She didn't let obstacles define her. She stayed focused on the goal and worked hard to make it a reality and we are so proud of her."
