Mariners Volleyball Falls In Straight Sets At Los Medanos

The last time the Mariners and the Mustangs squared off the match went five brutal sets which Los Medanos College won by a mere three points in the decisive fifth set. Wednesday's match was not as close on paper, though both teams battled their hardest. In the end the Los Medanos defeated Marin in straight sets 25-18, 25-22 and 25-22.

Los Medanos was brutally efficient in their attack, in the first set they hit .250 with nine kills and just three errors in their 24 attacks. The Mariners were not as buttoned up on the first set which resulting in a seven point victory for Los Medanos in set number one.

The second set was a taught affair as Marin improved their accuracy on their pass which resulted in a number of excellent pin point attacks. The Mustangs were just a hair better as they defeated the Mariners by just three points. The final set was also very close but went the way of the home team by a 25-22 score.

The difference in the match was hitting efficiency as Los Medanos managed a .205 mark for the day with 28 kills and 12 errors. The Mariners hit negative a -.023 with 22 kills and 24 errors. Marin made up for it with a much more efficient service game but LMC had the edge overall and it showed on the final score line.

Salomi Galodamu led the way with 10 kills for the Mariners, she added two aces a dig and two solo blocks for a 14 point evening. Alejandra Leon had seven kills, two aces, and 1.5 blocks for a 10.5 point night as well as 10 digs in the match.

 Next up for the Mariners is a home match against the College of Alameda on Friday, November 3rd, with the first serve at 6:00PM.
