Mariners End Home Slate With Injury Shortened Victory Over Mendocino College

The Mariner's final home game of the year ended with both a bang and a thud, as an injury to visiting Mendocino in the third set caused the Eagles to forfeit to the Mariners. The score was 18-9 in favor of Marin with the teams tied at a set a piece.

Mendocino was the sharper and more determined team early on, as they built a large early lead and cruised to a first set victory by a score of 25-17. Marin began the second set sluggish, but awoke just in time after a pair of timeouts to grab the second set 25-22. Marin was on their way to win the third set when the injury occurred that forced the forfeit by Mendocino.

In the two completed official sets Bella De Souza led the way for Marin with nine kills with four errors on 24 attacks. She chipped in two digs as well. Alejandra Leon was second on the team with seven kills and added three digs and a block to her day's resume. Sarah Harris was her usual efficient self with assists on 20 of Marin's 23 kills.

Marin's final match of the season is Friday, November 10th at Laney. A victory would push their season record to 15-10 with an 11-5 record in Bay Valley Conference play.
