Volleyball Sweeps Away Mission College Saints At Home

The Mariners finished up their non-conference slate with a convincing win over the visiting Saints of Mission College. College of Marin was the superior team as the final result was never really in doubt. The Mariners balanced attack got contributions up and down the roster as all nine players contributed in the 3-0 triumph.

College of Marin jumped out to a 16-6 lead in the first set and recorded a comfortable 25-17 win. Things got tighter in the second set as the Mariners could not shake the guests. Marin led 21-17 before nabbing a 25-20 victory to take a 2-0 stranglehold on the match. The final set was drawn out, but ultimately provided little drama as the Mariners seized victory by a 25-15 score.

Khadeejia Marcum earned a start for the Mariners and had a solid showing with four kills, an ace, two digs and a block assist for 5.5 points. Remy Pelzman led the Mariners with 10.5 points from nine kills an ace and a block assist. She also added a team high 17 digs despite playing in just two of the three sets. Makenzie Dugan also had an excellent stat line as the setter recorded 27 assists, eight digs and four kills on the evening.

The victory improved the Mariners overall record to 4-9. They travel to Los Medanos College on Friday, September 27th for their second BVC match of the season.
