Mariners' Volleyball Grounds The Mendocino Eagles 3-0

Mariners' Volleyball continued their romp through the BVC with a victory Friday evening over the Mendocino College Eagles. The Mariners easily dispatched their hosts in three sets and recorded their seventh victory over their previous ten matches. Sophomore Sasha Urban led the Mariners balanced attack with 11 points.

Marin controlled the match from the outset, and while they did not overwhelm in any set, they never looked vulnerable. The Mariners took set number one from the Eagles 25-19 on the strength of eight kills. They defeated the Eagles in the second set 25-18 despite a negative hitting percentage. Marin had seven kills and nine errors in 35 chances but took advantage of Mendocino's mistakes to take a commanding lead.

The Mariners took it to Mendocino in the final set which they won 25-20. Marin hit .200 in the set with 14 kills and just seven errors in 35 total attacks.

Urban led the way for the Mariners with 11 points on the strength of six aces, a block and four kills. Makenzie Dugan had a double double with 21 assists and 10 digs to go with three kills, two aces and 1.5 blocks. Lara Perry was nearly perfect with eight kills and no errors in ten attacks. She added an ace and a block assist for 9.5 total points.

The Mariners improved to 7-5 in the BVC with the win and look to finish the final week of the season strong with matches against Alameda and Yuba.  Marin hosts the College of Alameda Cougars on Wednesday, November 13th at 6pm.
