College of Marin Women's Volleyball stunned SRJC in 5 sets on Friday night. On the heals of two 3 set routs of City College of San Francisco and College of the Redwoods, the Mariners headed up to Santa Rosa to face off against the Bear Cubs, of the Big 8 conference, who finished their last season ranked 19th in the state.

The Mariners dropped the first set 23-25, then rallied back in the second to flip the score 25-23. Santa Rosa took the third 21-25 and then the Mariners dominated the fourth, taking it 25-17 and sealed the deal in the fifth taking it 15-11. "It was an amazing battle," said Head Coach Lisa Gera. "I'm so proud of the team. They never backed down." 

Freshman Aliyah Afoa made her presence felt, leading the team with 15 kills and 18 digs. Riley Geary led the team in digs with 21 and added 12 kills. Rachel Reher added another 10 kills for the Mariners.

The Mariners, 3-0 on the year, next face another Big 8 conference battle versus the Diablo Valley College Vikings (0-2) on Friday, September 10th at home.
