In a remarkable display of talent and determination, Lucas Schaefer, the sophomore sensation hailing from Petaluma, California, has been named Co-Mariner of the Month for March by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Lucas burst onto the scene in his inaugural season as a Mariner in 2023, quickly establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with. His statistics speak volumes: with 157 at-bats, he scored an impressive 49 runs, secured 54 hits, including 12 doubles and 11 home runs, and drove in 37 runs. Additionally, he showcased his speed with 15 stolen bases and demonstrated a keen eye at the plate with 19 walks. His batting average of .344, on-base percentage of .441, and slugging percentage of .643 solidified his status as a standout player in the league. 

Sophomore Surge 

Entering the 2024 season with unwavering determination, Lucas set his sights on leading his team to new heights. In just 29 games, he has shown remarkable improvement from his impressive debut, amassing 104 at-bats, 40 runs, 39 hits (including 14 doubles and 2 triples), 10 home runs, and 29 RBI. His keen eye and disciplined approach have resulted in an impressive batting average of .375, an on-base percentage of .525, and a slugging percentage of .837. 

Making History 

Lucas Schaefer's impact extends beyond individual accolades. With 21 career home runs and counting, he now holds the record for the most home runs in Mariner history—a testament to his extraordinary talent and dedication to the game.
