How to Become a Mariner

NEW STUDENT-ATHLETE CHECK LIST

Please complete all 10 steps on this new student-athlete checklist.

1. Fill out the recruiting questionnaire for your sport of interest, it is located on the top right of each sports' specific home page.

2. Apply to College of Marin for the upcoming semester: http://www.marin.edu/apply/index.html Indicate that you are a high school graduate. You will receive an email with your College of Marin student ID number. You must save/remember this number.

3. Meet with an Athletics Academic Counselor. You can schedule an appointment online: http://ss.marin.edu/counseling

4. Register for classes through your MyCOM portal (Make sure your classes match your Ed Plan)

5. Apply for Financial Aid by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov. (Not required, but HIGHLY encouraged)

7. Transcripts: If you attended another college, send your transcripts to Enrollment Services (PAGE LINKED HERE)

8. NCAA Eligibility Center (NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY AT COLLEGE OF MARIN)

  • If you have goals of transferring and competing at an NCAA Division I or Division II institution, it is vital that you determine whether you are a qualifier or nonqualifier, which is based on your high school academic record. See the NCAA Qualifier Quick Reference Guide for more information:Division I andDivision II
  • Qualifiers and Nonqualifiers follow a different set of transfer rules. You MUST register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/ to officially make this determination.

9. Get a Physical Examination from a qualified physician or a nurse practitioner (not a Chiropractor) and register yourself on Healthy Roster

  • Have your physician fill out the ATHLETE PHYSICAL FORM.
  • Returners: Check in with Joe Scarcella to see if you need an updated physical.
  • Update all required information into your team's HEALTHY ROSTER portal

10. Complete the Student-Athlete Eligibility Paperwork with the Athletic Director (Done as a team, typically the week before the first week of official practice)
