Basketball's Pierre Carter is COM Male Athlete Of The Year

Pierre Carter was named the College of Marin Male Athlete Of The Year at the 2015 Student Athlete Banquet.  He also won the Men's Basketball MVP award, making it a big night for the sophomore. 

Pierre Carter had a stellar 2014-2015 season for the College of Marin Basketball Team. In 29 games in averaged 13.8 points, and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 49.5% from the floor, 38.3% from three point range, and 80.8% from the free throw line. He lead his team in scoring and was awarded the Bay Valley Conference MVP and was named to the All Northern California State Team. 

Carter had the ability over the course of the season to explode on any given night.

In the second game of the season against San Diego City College on November 8th, he scored an efficient 21 points on only seven shots, making a pair of threes and shooting 7-9 from the free throw line. In Bay Valley Conference play against Los Medanos College on January 24th, Pierre scored 27 points with eight field goals, three three pointers and a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. 

Despite his ability to dominate in the regular season he turned in the finest performance of his College of Marin career in the Nor Cal Semifinals against Cosumnes River.  In 37 minutes Carter scored 34 of his team's 79 points making 12-16 shots from the floor including 5 of 9 from beyond the arc. He was a perfect 7-7 on two point shots and made 5-6 from the line. 

Carter's transcendence as a scorer will be surely missed at College of Marin, but he will continue his basketball career in the fall as he attends Cal State East Bay.
