College of Marin Beach Volleyball Swept At Home By Foothill College

Mariners' Beach Volleyball hosted Foothill College in their second match of the day, but it did not go as well as the first for College of Marin. After defeating College of San Mateo 5-0 in the day's opener the Mariners suffered the reverse score lines of 5-0 in a loss to the Foothill College Owls on Wednesday. Marin utilized primarily new pairings with the exception of the top pairing of Sarah Harris and Alejandra Leon.

The sophomore duo opened the match with a tough fight against the top pair from Foothill. They battled, but dropped the first set 21-14 to the Owls and followed it with the same score in the second set.

Kirsta Rodriguez-McKee and Amber Proctor took on the twos from Foothill and were outmatched in both sets 21-4 and 21-7. It was only their second pairing of the season after grabbing a win over San Mateo earlier in the day.

Maggie Johnson and Khadeejia Marcum had the best showing of any Mariners' pair in the match, almost taking the first set 21-18 before dropping the second 21-11.

Luisa Ayala and Ashley Chanthongthip competed in four slot and were solid in their second match together. Though they lost the first set 21-7, they rallied for a better second set loss of 21-12.

The final pairing of Nattasia Ferrin and Mackenzie Graham competed together for the first time in the season. They did pretty well in their debut but fell by identical 21-13, and 21-13 score lines.

The loss dropped the Mariners' record to 2-4 on the year. The have two more matches in their preseason schedule before the beginning of Big 8 Conference. Next up is a road trip to Santa Barbara to take on the Vaqueros in a pair of matches on Tuesday, March 19th.
