Beach Volleyball Drops Home Match To West Valley 5-0

The Mariners finished a busy opening day with a loss to the West Valley Vikings on Wednesday. Just hours after taking on the Foothill Owls, Marin hosted the Vikings and fell in straight sets 5-0. The 10 competitors that comprised the Mariners five pairs did their best against difficult competition.

The day started with Erika Eida and Francesca Varagnolo taking on the fifth pair from West Valley. It was a difficult match for the Mariners as they fell 21-6 and 21-9 in two sets.

Charlene Abuda and Kailani Kwan-Sy took on the fours of West Valley and dropped the first set 21-12 before falling in the decisive set 21-6.

Lara Perry and Jade Williams put up the best fight of the day for Marin against the Vikings' third pair. Perry and Williams nearly took the first set, but fell 21-18, before losing the second set 21-11.

Magnolia Johnson and Natasha Saccardi took on the twos of West Valley but fell 21-12 and 21-6 in straight sets.

The final matchup of the day saw Makenzie Dugan and Salomi Galodamu go down to the top seeds of West Valley. The first set was 21-10 and the second set was 21-16.

Despite the loss, Marin was impressive in spurts. With more time in the sand this spring, they are sure to improve and compete in the Big Eight Conference.

Marin hosts the San Mateo Bulldogs on Friday at 1pm.
