A young but competitive College of Marin Baseball Team gutted out a third consecutive Bay Valley Conference Championship in the 2015 season. A 9-2 victory over Laney College on April 24 clinched a share of the Bay Valley Conference Title with Solano College. The Mariners finished the season with a 26-12-1 overall record and a 19-5 record in conference play.

The Mariners reached the first round of the state playoffs where they were defeated by Cabrillo College in a best of three game series. Despite the first round exit in the playoffs, it was a very successful season for Head Coach Steve Berringer and the entire Mariners team. Although the Mariners are typically a pitching and defense based team, the 2015 version was an offensive juggernaut as well

The Mariners finished sixth in the state in scoring with 286 runs, 11th in batting average at .304 and 10th in slugging at a .397 clip. On the defensive side of the diamond the Mariners were 9th in the state with a .970 fielding percentage, and had the sixth fewest errors in state. On the hill Mariners pitchers struck out the sixth most batters in the state with 274.

The Mariners earned seven All-Conference Awards and Steve Berringer was named BVC Coach of the year.

The league MVP was freshman third baseman Ryan Schalch. He batted .367 with three home runs, 25 RBI and 47 during the season.  Schalch also moonlighted as a pitcher, throwing 22 innings and striking out 21 while allowing just two earned runs for an ERA of 0.82.

Freshman pitcher Chrit Rudkin earned BVC 1st Team All-Conference Pitcher with a 7-5 record in 99.2 innings pitched. He recorded 72 strikeouts with only 18 walks and 2.89 ERA.  Rudkin earned the Gold Glove at the pitcher position with 28 total chances and no errors.

Freshman shortstop Matthew Tarantino was named BVC 1st Team All-Conference Infield for the 2015 season. He batted .337 with 21 doubles and 32 RBI while scoring 35 runs. Freshman Chris Hayman also racked up first team honors as BVC 1st Team All-Conference Utility playing both second base and the outfield.  Hayman hit .331 during the season with 25 RBI and 30 runs scored. Sophomore Steven DeMartini earned BVC 2nd Team All-Conference at First Base with a .313 average and 25 RBI to go with his 50 hits during the season. His slick field skills earned him a conference Gold Glove as he made only a single error during the season, recording a .997 fielding percentage.

The team is losing several strong sophomores but a large freshman corps gives the Mariners a chance at an unprecedented four consecutive conference titles in the 2016 season.
