Potts Dominant Performance Not Enough In Game One

Elk Grove, CA—The College of Marin traveled up to the Sacramento area on Friday afternoon to continue their playoff run.  After defeating the Canada Colts The 15 seeded Mariners took on the 2 seeded Cosumnes River College Hawks in game one of the best of three series.

Jaymes Potts made the start out on mound for the Mariners. Potts was dominant for Marin, giving up just two runs in his 8 innings of work. Potts retired 11 straight batters in the middle innings of the game to stifle the Hawks. Over the last 5 frames only two Hawks got to 2B, neither of which would come into score.

Unfortunately for Marin, they too faced a dominant pitching performance. The Mariners mustered just 6 hits, all singles, on the day and stranded 7 runners on the base paths. Marin did not have a runner reach third base until the 8th inning, but could not bring him home.

The Mariners lost game one, 2-0. The first time they have been shut out all season long.
