Marin Grabs Comfortable Home Win Over Hartnell 9-2

After more than a week of nail biters and heartbreakers, it was a welcome change for the Mariners to have a comfortable win. Marin jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over Hartnell and extended it to 9-1 before a late consolation run made the final score 9-2 in favor of the home team. Chris Allen threw six scoreless innings for the win while Jakob Davidson was the offensive hero with three hits and two RBIs on the day.

After a scoreless top half of the first, the Mariners got on the board in the bottom half. A pair of one out singles and a balk put runners on second and third before Davidson doubled in the first run of the game and MacLean Meyn cracked a sacrifice fly to increase the advantage to 2-0.  Marin added another run in the bottom of the second as Nick Heimbroadt walked, stole second and scored on a two out single by Dominic Burke.

Chris Allen retired the first 11 Hartnell batters of the game before allowing a two out single in the fourth. The only threat he face was in the top of the fifth as Hartnell put runners on the corners with one out, but Allen retired the following batters to end the inning. Allen struck out five in six innings while allowing just three hits and no walks.

The Mariners added two more in the bottom of the sixth as a pair of walks and a wild pitch but runners on second and third with nobody out. Jacob Kimbrough laced an RBI single to drive in Marin's fourth run. A wild pitch plated Alex Davis from third for a 5-0 lead. Hartnell pulled out back in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch, but Hartnell would get no closer than 5-1.

College of Marin put the game away in the bottom of the seventh as Davidson drove in a run with an RBI single, Alex Davis added two more with an RBI triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly to give Marin a 9-1 lead. While Hartnell scored once in the top of the ninth, it was not enough as Marin took the comfortable 9-2 home victory.
