The Mariners had little left in the tank, a day after mustering a furious rally that just fell short. On Saturday, the College of Marin Baseball team faced Delta College in a must win, and were unable to pull it out in an 11-1 loss. Exhaustion and fatigue played a serious role in the game as the Mariners could not matchup to the intensity of host Delta College. Despite the loss, it was a very successful year for Marin who reached the NorCal Super Regionals for the first time since 2014.

Delta, who played as the visiting team for the second game of the series, got on the board in the top of second with an RBI groundout. They added a second in the top of the third with a double and an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead.  The Mariners were unable to muster any sort of offense through the first four innings, as they scattered three singles.

Delta got to work in the top of the fifth as they loaded the bases with one away. A double scored a pair and increased their lead to 4-0 before Bret Bowyer was summoned from the Marin bullpen to relieve starter Dominic Garihan. Bowyer fared no better as he allowed a two run double to the first batter he faced to make the score 6-0. After a strikeout and a walk, a three run homer capped the inning as Delta took a commanding 9-0 lead.

The Mariners managed to get on the board in the bottom half of the sixth inning as Christian Merriwether walked and stole second. He advanced to third on a ground out by Dominic Burke and scored on an RBI groundout by Marcus Chiu to cut the lead to 9-1.

The score would unfortunately grow no closer for the Mariners as Delta scored twice more in the top of the seventh for an 11-1 lead. Marin had base runners in the eighth and ninth innings but it was to no avail and Delta closed out the Mariners for the win in the game and the series.

Jakob Davidson had a pair of hits in the loss for the Mariners who managed just five in the game. Chris Allen pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth innings in relief of Bowyer.
