Four Mariners Baseball Players Selected for Sophomore Showcase

College of Marin Baseball Sophomores will participate in the 27th annual CCCAA Fall Showcase on Saturday September 30th. Jacob Munoz, Adam Hussain, Dominic Burke and Alex Davis will represent Marin at the showcase hosted by Cosumnes River College. The four players will demonstrate their skills before beginning their sophomore seasons at the College of Marin in January 2018.

Jacob Munoz was the starting right fielder for the Mariners in the 2017 season. In 41 games he hit .310 with 29 runs scored, 29 RBI and nine stolen bases. He had an on base percentage of .409 and a slugging percentage of .426. In the playoffs Munoz hit .500 with seven hits, three doubles and 10 RBI. At the end of the season Munoz was named to the 2017 Bay Valley All Conference 2nd Team.

Adam Hussain played in 33 games for the Mariners in 2017, serving primarily as a left fielder and designated hitter. He hit .319 with three home runs, 29 runs scored and 29 RBIs. In the playoffs he was 5-12 with three doubles and three RBIs. Hussain was a member of the 2017 Bay Valley All Conference 2nd Team.

Dominic Burke was a multitalented member of the Mariners 2017 team. He batted leadoff for a majority of the season and played third base while also pitching on occasion. In 43 games Burke batted .326 with eight doubles and 17 RBI while walking 15 times and striking out in only 14 at bats. On the mound Burke threw 10.2 innings and allowed just three earned runs for a 2.53 ERA. Burke was also a member of the 2017 Bay Valley All Conference 2nd Team.

Alex Davis started at short for the Mariners in 2017. In 42 games Davis hit .284 with two home runs, 14 doubles and 20 RBI. His on base percentage was .390 and his slugger percentage was .426. He had an excellent eye at the plate drawing 23 walks while striking out just 21 times. Davis was an honorable mention for the 2017 Bay Valley All Conference Team.

The aforementioned Mariners will go on to do great things, and the showcase is just the beginning. Luckily for College of Marin they all have one more season in black and gold.
