Mariners Baseball Drops Slugfest to Folsom Lake Falcons 17-10

Road trips can be tough. Playing every game on the road can be tougher. The Mariners endured a rough day in Folsom as the Falcons tore through the Mariners pitching in a 17-10 game on Friday. Marin banged out 13 hits, but Folsom Lake had 15 of their own in the game.

Both teams scored early and scored often. After a scoreless first inning the Mariners got on the board first with two runs in the top of the second. Marin put two on with none out before Dominic Burke lined an RBI single to right, a double play to the next batter scored Shane Dalton to give Marin a 2-0 lead. It did not last long as the Falcons responded with three of their own in the bottom half. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases with nobody out. A hit by pitch and two fielding errors scored three for the home team who led Marin 3-2 after two complete.

Marin answered right back with two more in the top of the third, as Harwell and Balano delivered RBI knocks to put the Mariners back on top 4-3 . It was gone in an instant as Folsom Lake scored two more on an error and an RBI single to retake a 5-4 advantage. Marin responded in kind yet again with two in the fourth to take the lead once again at 6-5. This time Folsom Lake did not score in the bottom half of the inning.

The home team waited until the bottom of the fifth to unleash upon the Mariners bullpen. The Falcons scored five runs on five hits in the inning. They delivered an RBI double, RBI single and sacrifice fly to plate the first three runs before a two out two run single pushed their lead to 10-6.

Marin failed to score in the top of the sixth, but Folsom Lake did not in the bottom half. They unloaded for six additional runs to take a 16-6 lead after six complete. Folsom Lake scored once more in the bottom of the seventh to hold an 11 run advantage. Marin responded with three in the eighth and one more in the ninth inning but it was not enough as the Mariners fell by a touchdown 17-10.
