Allen, Munoz propel Mariners to 4-1 win over Feather River College

Marin completed their two game home stand at University of San Francisco undefeated as they followed up their victory over Lassen College with a 4-1 win against Feather River College on Friday. Chris Allen struck out 10 batters and allowed just one unearned run in seven innings while Jake Munoz launched a moonshot in the first inning to drive the Mariners.

Christian Merriwether led off with a single before Munoz unloaded for his second home run of the year. The ball went high into the right field nets, hopefully a portent for the future Don. Marin added on in the third inning, as Randy Fernandez led off with a single and Munoz followed with a one out walk. They moved to second and third on a balk by the Feather River pitcher, before a sacrifice fly by Alex Davis plated Fernandez. Adam Hussain singled to push Munoz to third before Dominic Burke singled in Munoz for a 4-0 Mariners lead.

Allen held down the Feather River Golden Eagles until the seventh inning when the visitors led off with a walk and a single. The Mariners' sophomore limited the damage by inducing a double play grounder that scored a run, but emptied the bases. Nick Roth took over in the top of the eighth with a 4-1 lead and retired six opposing hitters while allowing a single in each inning.

The Mariners improved their record to 7-4 as Allen earned his fourth win of year and Roth his third save. Munoz had two hits, two runs and two RBI while. Fernandez and Merriwether each had a hit and run scored.

The Mariners have grueling week ahead of them as they play the College of San Mateo thrice on the road.
