The Mariners dropped the opener of their double header against Folsom Lake College 6-1. The teams played at Ohlone College in Fremont due Folsom's field conditions. The home team scored early and never looked back as Marin struggled to find their offense. They threatened throughout but could not deliver the key hit to bring them back into the game. Michael Benz started for Marin and pitched the first five innings while Ryan Moyer pitched the final three frames.

After the Mariners failed to score in the opening frame the hosting Folsom Lake Falcons got on the board just four batters into the game. The leadoff hitter singled off of Mariners' starter Michael Benz, and moved to third on a ground out and wild pitch. After a walk put runners at the corners, a sacrifice fly put Folsom Lake up 1-0. Marin could not muster a rally in the second, and the Falcons score twice more with a two-run homer in the bottom half of the second.

Trailing 3-0, Marin made some noise in the top of the fourth inning. Landen Moran walked to lead off and moved to second on a single by Anthony Pomilia. An error with Casey Armusewicz at the plate loaded the bases with nobody out. Conor Bardue hit into a fielder's choice, plating Moran for Marin's first run of the day. With two down Nick Cavarvello walked to reload the bases, but Marin could do no further damage and settled for just the one run.

Both teams failed to score in the fifth, but Folsom Lake continued to add on in the sixth. Ryan Moyer relieved Benz to begin the inning and put two on with two out in the frame. An RBI single made the score 4-1, but a key strikeout kept the margin within striking distance.

The Mariners made some noise in the seventh inning, putting two one with one out, but a flyout and strikeout ended the threat. Folsom added another run in the bottom half with a walk, double and sacrifice fly. In the eighth Marin went in order while the Falcons scored their sixth run with a single double and sacrifice fly.

The Mariners went down in order in the ninth as the game ended 6-1.

Marin mustered only four hits in the game but did manage to draw six walks. Moran reached base three times in the game, scored the Mariners' only run and had a stolen base. Benz did well on the hill, striking out six while walking two and allowing just three runs in five innings. Moyer pitched the final three frames and allowed three runs.

The loss dropped Marin's record to 2-3 on the year.
