College of Marin Baseball is undefeated in the confines of their new stadium, even if they are the road team. For the second time in three games the Mariners were the road team at home. It made little difference to Marin who led 9-1, before thwarting a Napa Valley Storm rally for a 9-6 victory. Demian White earned the victory on the hill while the Mariners' 1-5 hitters tallied 10 hits on the day.
Marin took the lead in the top of the first as they loaded the bases with nobody out. A potential big inning turned sour as Conor Bardue and Dionathan Cornet both struck out but Randy Fernandez patience paid off with a bases loaded walk to put the Mariners in front 1-0. The lead was short lived as Napa responded with back to back two out doubles to tie the game up at 1-1 after the first inning of competition.
Neither team could score in the second inning but Marin took the lead for good in the third. Landen Moran led off with a hit by pitch before Conor Bardue ripped a double to push Marin ahead 2-1. Dionathan Cornet followed with a double of his own, plating Bardue and increasing the Mariners' advantage to 3-1.
Marin added three in the fourth as Moran had an RBI single and Bardue a two-run double for a 6-1 lead. It ballooned to 8-1 in the fifth courtesy of doubles by Will Langan Jr and Anthony Pomilia before Davis Barkocy's RBI knock in the sixth gave Marin a 9-1 lead.
The Storm rallied in the bottom of the sixth as they loaded the bases with one out. A pair of two run singles followed and cut into the Marin lead 9-5. Napa added another in the seventh from an RBI double play but did not add on.
Michael Benz took the hill in the seventh and retired seven of the eight batters he faced to earn the save and seal the win for Marin 9-6.
White allowed five runs and eight hits, but the run support saw him through to earn the victory. Bardue had two doubles and three RBI, Cornet also had a pair of two baggers with a run and an RBI. The team combined for six doubles and they swiped five bases in the win.
The victory pushed their Bay Valley Conference record to 10-2, in first place ahead of Los Medanos College.
