Mariners Thrash Napa Storm 21-2

College of Marin Baseball took no mercy on the Napa Valley College Storm on Thursday. Marin scored early and scored often against Napa, racking up 15 runs by the end of the sixth inning. They made Tuesday's 13-2 game look close versus Napa, eventually ending the slaughter on Thursday by a final tally of 21-2.

Eric Woodrow had four hits, including his first home run of the season while Dionathan Cornet was a perfect five for five with three doubles on the day. 18 players recorded an at bat for the Mariners with 15 recording hits and 14 scoring a run.

Matthew Lozovoy allowed single runs in the second and third innings to the Storm. Napa used a leadoff triple and ground out to plate their first run in the second inning. They utilized a walk and two singles to score again in the third.

Meanwhile, at the plate the Mariners started slow, but quickly built momentum. Eric Woodrow blasted a two-run homer in the second to give Marin an early lead.  Trent Free drove in Cornet with a double in the third and Marin led 3-2 heading to the fourth.

The game took a turn for the best in Marin's case as they scored thrice in the fourth. Anthony Pomilia delivered a two-run triple and Jacob Berg an RBI single to push Marin's lead to 6-2. The Mariners benefited from three errors in the fifth to score five runs and added four more in the sixth to lead 15-2.

Lozovoy pitched the first six innings to earn the victory. He allowed two hits and six hits while walking a pair and striking out an impressive 14 Napa batters. Nick George hurled three shutout innings allowing just two hits and striking out four.

The Mariners added six runs in the top of the ninth as Marin's bench made their mark on the game. Isaac Woldt delivered an RBI double and Chris Blyskal followed with an RBI single. Tanner Graham and Johnny Tarantino each came through with run scoring singles of their own.

Woodrow had two singles, a double and a homer on the day. He scored three runs and drove in a pair. Cornet had two singles, three doubles, an RBI and two runs while Tyler Shelley had a pair of doubles and two runs driven in.

The Mariners look formidable heading to their final game with Napa, an opponent they outscored 34-4 through the first two games. The finale is scheduled for 1:00pm in Kentfield on Friday, March 13th.
