Mariners roll past 49ers

In game one of this three game Bay Valley Conference series on Tuesday April 19th, the Mariners had their way.

The Mariners gave up an early 1-0 lead to the Yuba College 49ers but quickly took the lead back and never looked back. The scoring began after Steven Elsner reached on a base hit and was later driven in by Jacob Campbell with a sacrifice fly. From there the Mariners scored a total of 6 runs in the second inning. Fast forward to the fourth inning, they added another 5 runs followed by 5 runs the next inning!

After the Mariners took such a commanding lead, they held on to it and tacked on when they needed. Eric Woodrow came in relief in the second inning and threw a solid 4.1 innings only allowing two earned runs. Riley Phelan finished off the last two innings giving up no runs and striking out one batter.

Offensively Steven Elsner had himself a day. Going 4-4 with a grand slam and a total of 6 RBI's. Donovan Ratfield also had himself 2 hits on the day with 3 RBI's. The Mariners finished off the Yuba 49ers with a final score of 21-6.

The Mariners head to Yuba later this week to take them on in game two of this three game series.
