Mariners Conclude the 2023 Season

The 2023 season has come to an end for the College of Marin baseball team. The Mariners went 0-2 in the NorCal Regionals against the Folsom Lake College Falcons. Despite the loss, the Mariners had a solid overall record of 24-18, with a conference record of 17-4.

One significant milestone for the Mariners this season was when Head Coach Berringer achieved his 500th career win. This impressive accomplishment is a testament to Coach Berringer's leadership and the success he has brought to the Mariners program over the years.

The team had a group of outstanding sophomores who were instrumental in their success this season. Some of these sophomores will be continuing their athletic careers at four-year institutions, while others are pursuing various avenues to continue their career beyond the four-year level. Regardless of their future plans, their contributions to the team will not be forgotten.

Thirteen Mariners were selected for the Bay Valley All-Conference Teams, which is a testament to the depth and talent of the team. Pitcher Jake Tirk was named the Pitcher of the Year, while freshman pitcher Erik Kvidahl was named the Freshman Pitcher of the Year.

First-team selections included pitcher Jake Verwiel, relief pitcher Bryant Thornton, and outfielders D'Andre Gaines and Lucas Schaefer. Second-team selections included relief pitcher Sid Polson, infielders Jacob Campbell and Jake Ferguson, and outfielders Steven Elsner. Honorable mentions went to pitchers Zach Coleman and Erik Kvidahl and first baseman Joey Taddie.

The Mariners should be proud of their successful season and the numerous individual accomplishments of their players. While they fell short in the NorCal Regionals, the team can take solace in their strong showing in the conference and the recognition that their players received.

As the Mariners look towards next season, they will undoubtedly look to build on this year's successes and continue to grow as a team. The future looks bright for this talented group of players, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
