Mariners Win Last Match of a Three-Game Series

How It Happened Day 1: 7-9 

Game one of a three-game series versus College of the Sequoias Giants was a close match. The Giants took game one 9-7. To start the game, Jacob Campbell hit a homer. COS struck back with four runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Mariners went on to take the lead in the 4th inning with scores from Chris Delangis, Lucas Schaefer, Cam Appling, Payton Harris, and Noah Strobel (6-4). Lucas Schaefer scored again in the 7th inning (7-5). Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough as the Giants found their way back into the game with four runs in the 8th (9-7). 

Bryant Thornton pitched 5.1 innings with only 6 hits and 7 strikeouts 

How It Happened Day 2: 11-14 

The Mariners were off to a good start leading the game (9-5) until the 5th inning when the Giants tied the game with four runs after an error from the Mariners shortstop (9-9). At the bottom of the 8th COS scored 4 runs, giving them the edge over the Mariners for the remainder of the game.  

Pitcher, Jake Tirk pitched for four innings, faced 23 batters, and only allowed four hits. 

How It Happened Day 3: 8-2 

The Mariners dominate on day three. Jake Verwiel shut down the Giants in 6 strong innings en route to an 8-2 victory. The Mariners controlled the game from the beginning with two errors to the Giants' seven.  

Marin added to their 1-0 lead in the sixth (3) and seventh (4). The Giants scored two runs in the seventh (2-8), but that wasn’t quite enough to sweep the Mariners in the three-game series.
