Coach Al Endriss, a revered figure in the world of baseball, passed away peacefully at the age of 95. His profound impact on the sport and the lives of countless individuals resonates through his legacy, making him an unforgettable presence in the College of Marin community. 

Inducted into the College of Marin's Class of 2011 Hall of Fame for Baseball (1982-1997), Coach Al was a guiding force who left an indelible mark on the Mariners. His influence reached far beyond the confines of the baseball field, shaping the character and futures of those under his tutelage. 

Reflecting on Coach Al's legacy, Santa Rosa Junior College Athletic Director, Matt Markovich, shared his personal connection with the late coach. Markovich was initially recruited by Coach Al to join the COM team in 1991. Although he ultimately chose a different path, Markovich later found himself coaching alongside Coach Al in 1996. The experience was transformative, as he worked closely with Coach Al and Larry Quricco during summer camps. 

As a mentor, Coach Al was an invaluable source of knowledge for young coaches. His passion for the game was contagious, and he instilled a strong work ethic in those he mentored. The environment he created at COM allowed budding baseball players to not only develop their skills but also to grow into responsible and respectful young men. Coach Al emphasized the importance of respect for the game, coaches, teammates, equipment, and personal effort, imparting life skills that extended beyond the baseball diamond. 

Coach Al's influence extended beyond the College of Marin, leaving an enduring legacy at Redwood High School and throughout Marin County. Mentioning Marin County Baseball evokes thoughts of Coach Berringer and the late Coach Al, who set the standards for COM Baseball. Coach Al's expectations became the cornerstone for the program, shaping the culture of baseball in the county and the school. 

In the wake of Coach Al's passing, College of Marin Athletics mourns the loss of a legend. The institution acknowledges its profound debt to the enduring legacy left behind by Coach Al Endriss. His contributions will forever be remembered, and the College of Marin is fortunate to have been touched by the coaching prowess of Coach Al, a rare and remarkable coach who has enriched the institution's athletic history.
