Mariners Men’s Basketball Thumps West Hills Eagles 76-54

College of Marin Men's Basketball shook off a loss on Saturday and bounced back with a big win on Sunday over the West Hills Lemoore Eagles. Marin led by five at halftime but blew the doors off the game in the second half to cruise to a 76-54 win. Jalen Chandler led the Mariners in points and rebounds.

Marin got off to a hot start from the floor and led early on. While they controlled the tempo of the game, they could not get major separation from their competitors. Every time the Mariners made a run, West Hills responded to keep in contact. The Mariners held a 36-31 at halftime but looked to increase their advantage in the second half.

The Mariners proved they were the better team in the second half as they exploded for 40 points while limiting West Hills to just 23 points. Everybody got in on the scoring party as all nine Mariners made a field goal. The final whistled sounded and Marin were rewarded with a 76-54 win.

Chandler led all scorers with 24 points. He chipped in 10 rebounds and three blocks as well. Franco Barefield scored 17 points and dished out seven assists while Malik Ghiden had an efficient 10 points on the day. Julian Bryant filled up the stat sheet with six points, five rebounds, four assists a steal and two blocks.

As a team the Mariners shot 50.9% from the field and made an impressive nine three pointers.

The win pushed Marin back to .500 on the season at 2-2. Their next stop on their non-conference schedule is a road game at Butte College on Friday, November 15th at 6pm.
