College of Marin Basketball Slams Simpson JV 87-64

Mariners Men's Basketball rebounded from a loss to Fresno City with a resounding victory over the Junior Varsity squad from Simpson College. The Mariners led from wire to wire and asserted their dominance over the four-year school. Freshman Julian Bryant exploded for 27 points off the bench for the Mariners in an 87-64 win.

Eager to cast out their demons from the previous day, the Mariners looked like a team reborn on the second day of the Modesto College Tournament. They led by a comfortable margin through the first half of the game with Simpson and went to the break ahead.

The second half saw the Mariners find a true offensive flow as threes rained down from all sides. They scored 53 points in the second stanza and won the game going way 87-64. The entire team had a chance to play and eight of nine Mariners recorded points.

As a group Marin hit 11 threes in the game at an impressive 52.4% clip. They shot 47.9% overall and made eight of ten free throws.

Individually Julian Bryant had the best game of his career with 27 points on 10-18 shooting including six made three points. He added six rebounds and a steal as well. Jalen Chandler scored 18 points and grabbed a team high 10 rebounds, while Franco Barefield had 13 points, three boards, three assists and a pair of steals.

The win pushed Marin's record to 5-5 with a game against Ohlone College upcoming on the final day of the Modesto College Tournament.
