With the game tied at 73-73 and under a minute left, the Mariners found a way to execute and eek out a win in Napa on Wednesday. Marin's Malik Ghiden made a spinning layup to push the Mariners in front by a pair. The Storm drew a foul but missed both free throws, however they did grab the offensive rebound. The potential game tying shot was swatted by Alfonso Murrie as the Mariners held off their hosts for a 77-73 win. Ghiden led the Mariners with 22 points, while Jalen Chandler chipped in 19.

Marin fell behind early in the first half but rallied to take a 17-16 lead midway through the first half. The Mariners led 30-26 before back to back triples by Chandler extended their advantage to double digits at 36-26 with five minutes left in the half. Marin led 42-30 with three minutes left before Napa finished the half on a 9-2 run to cut Marin's lead to 44-39.

Napa kept pace in the second half and tied the game up at 50-50 six minutes into the second period. The Mariners could not gain any separation as they led 73-71 with 2:36 remaining in regulation. Defensed reigned for both sides before Napa drew a foul and converted both free throws to tie game at 73-73 with 95 seconds remaining. The neither team scored until Ghiden converted his crucial layup with 35 seconds left.

The Mariners shot 47.7% from the floor in the game and converted 40% of their shots from distance. Ghiden had one of his best games of the season with 22 points on 9-13 shooting. He added a pair of made three pointers and three assists as well. Chandler had 19 points and nine rebounds while Murrie had 11 points and five boards as well as the game sealing block.

The Mariners improve to 10-11 on the year with the victory and 4-6 in the Bay Valley Conference. They sit in fifth place with a game against Contra Costa on deck for Friday, January 31st at 5:30pm.
