College of Marin Women's Basketball started their first winning streak of the season as they downed the Las Positas Hawks on Friday 60-40. A day after they defeated the Gavilan Rams, the Mariners carried on with a strong performance in the second day of the De Anza Tournament. Marin used a balanced scoring attack to win the day as Victoria Bing, Maya Murry-Pena, Vanessa Torres and Kaleah Williams all chipped in with a dozen or more points in the victory.

The Hawks held an early 5-3 advantage but Murry-Pena buried a three pointer from the left wing and the Mariners never looked back. Marin led 11-7 after the first quarter and continued their dominate play for the remainder of the first half. The quick break only energized Marin who piled on six more to take a commanding 17-point lead with under three remaining. Las Positas rallied with five of their own to keep within contact, but Marin led 26-14 after 20 minutes of play.

The Mariners burst out of the gate in the third quarter with a 7-2 run and cruised through the period with a double-digit lead. Midway through the final period of play Marin led 45-32 before a late burst gave the Mariners a 20-point victory at 60-40.
