Williams’ 37 Leads Mariners Over Eagles 68-48

College of Marin Women's Basketball grounded the Laney College Eagles in their season finale on Friday. The Mariners held a narrow advantage at halftime, but opened the game up in the third quarter to cruise to a 20-point win over the Eagles 68-48. Kaleah Williams shined on her Sophomore Night with a team record 37 points in the Mariners' victory.

It was a slow start for both teams as Marin led just 11-10 after ten minutes. The second quarter saw the game open up a bit as both teams found their rhythm. Marin led 24-20 with four minutes left but the Eagles cut the advantage to only three points at 29-26 by halftime.

Williams and the Mariners took control in the third quarter. They led 39-28 midway through before Kaleah buried a shot at the buzzer to lead 47-35 heading to the final quarter. The sophomore added 12 more points in the fourth quarter to deliver an impressive 20-point victory over their rivals from Oakland.

Williams' 37 points were the most by any Mariner in the last 20 years. She made 15-27 shots, including three made triples and converted all four of her free throw attempts. She added 15 rebounds and seven assists as well as four steals and three blocks in an epic all around effort.

Sophia Jacob was the only other Mariner in double digits with 12 points of her own. The Mariners dominated on the glass with 19 offensive rebounds and had 28 more shot attempts than the Eagles.

Marin finished the season tied for fifth place with the Eagles. They posted a record of 5-8 in the conference and 8-16 overall on the season.
