Mariners Are Headed to Playoffs

For the first time in 20 years, the College of Marin women's basketball team is headed to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) playoffs. The last time the Mariners competed in the postseason was the CCCAA's final four in 2003. 

This is Coach Schaefer's fourth season as head coach for the Mariners. Coaching alongside her is John Berry, Amanda Lassiter, and Erryana Hatfield. Coach Schaefer was voted Bay Valley Conference (BVC) Coach of the Year. 

College of Marin completed the regular season 16-10, securing the #21 spot for playoffs. The Mariners placed fourth in the Bay Valley Conference after a tough season last year. Coach Schaefer gives credit to her team for the way they have come together and believed in themselves and each other. Isobel Crosswhite earned fourth place in the BVC for rebounds per game (10.8) and first place for field goal percentage (51.1%). T Claros also left her mark on the BVC shooting 37.3% (second) from behind the arch. 

"At the beginning of the season, the coaching staff knew we had a special group. It has been a privilege to watch them achieve their goals" Coach Schaefer. Tomorrow night, the Mariners will face Skyline College in San Bruno California for a first-round game at 7:00 pm.
