Mariners Host Skyline for Season Opener

In a highly anticipated season opener, the Mariners clashed with the Trojans, rekindling memories of their last encounter on February 22nd during the intense 3C2A first-round women's basketball playoffs. 

This year, the Mariners are embracing a new dynamic, with Isobel Crosswhite (5) and Aulani Leomiti (33) leading the team as returning sophomores, while the majority of the squad consists of talented freshmen.  

Isobel Crosswhite set the court ablaze, achieving her first double-double of the season, marking her impressive 14th career double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.  

Freshman guard Gloria Seidl displayed sharpshooting, contributing 14 points with an impressive 4-5 shooting record from beyond the three-point line. Additionally, a versatile freshman guard/forward Samantha Morris, added 11 points to the team's tally, showcasing the depth of the Mariners' new talent. 

A'liyah Holmes, a standout freshman guard, made her presence known by grabbing an impressive eight rebounds, solidifying the Mariners' dominance on the boards. With 43 rebounds in total, the Mariners outperformed Skyline, who managed 32. 

With this exhilarating season opener behind them, the Mariners now prepare for their next challenge. They'll be hitting the road to Salinas to face off against Hartnell College Panthers on Friday, November 3rd, at 5:00 PM. The stage is set for another thrilling matchup as the Mariners look to build on their promising start to the season.
