Mariners Sail to Victory in Conference Opener

In the first conference match, the Mariners charted a course to Ukiah to face off against the Yuba College 49ers, and the result was nothing short of a dominating display. Riding the momentum of a two-game win streak, the Mariners left no doubt on the court, sealing their first conference victory with an emphatic 68-32 triumph.

The standout performance of the night came from none other than sophomore sharpshooter Aulani Leomiti, who orchestrated an offensive symphony with an impressive 18 points. Leomiti showcased her marksmanship, connecting on 40% of her attempts from beyond the arc, leaving the Yuba defense scrambling to contain her lethal perimeter game.

Freshman guard TY Chappell had a career night, contributing a remarkable 16 points to the Mariners' offensive onslaught. Chappell's electrifying performance added an extra layer of dynamism to the Mariners' backcourt.

Samantha Morris, a freshman sensation, was on the cusp of securing her third double-double as a Mariner, finishing the night with an impressive 12 points and 9 rebounds. The budding star's tenacity on the boards and scoring prowess played a crucial role in the Mariners' commanding victory.

Isobel Crosswhite continued her dominant form, posting yet another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The relentless forward's two-way impact was a driving force behind the Mariners' control of the paint, leaving the Yuba College 49ers struggling to find answers.

On the defensive end, A’liyah Holmes, Riorden High School alum, emerged as a force to be reckoned with, leading the charge with four steals. Holmes' defensive prowess added an extra layer of frustration for the 49ers, who found it increasingly difficult to navigate through the Mariners' tenacious defensive efforts.
