Mariners Turn Up Defensive Intensity

The College of Marin women's basketball team squared off against Merritt College in their final match-up of the season. Marin ultimately emerged victorious, clinching a hard-fought 56-40 win over the Panthers.

The game was a showcase of resilience and determination from both teams, with neither side willing to back down. Sophomore Sensation, Isobel Crosswhite dominated the paint yet again! Pulling down an impressive 12 rebounds to go along with her 14 points and 5 assists.

Freshman guard, A'liyah Holmes finished the game with 11 points. MaTaya Sherman battled tirelessly in the trenches, grabbing 6 rebounds while adding 3 points to the scoreboard. Samantha Morris orchestrated the offense with precision, dishing out 4 assists and contributing 11 points of her own. Aulani Leomiti lit up the court with her sharpshooting, sinking 4 out of 9 three-point attempts on her way to 13 points.

Ty Chappell provided a spark with her defensive tenacity, despite a tough shooting night, while Younique Wethington made her presence felt with a perfect shooting performance

Despite shooting struggles, with a field goal percentage of 30.2% and a three-point shooting percentage of 26.1%, Marin's resilience on defense proved to be the difference-maker. They held Merritt to just 1 point in the third quarter, showcasing their ability to clamp down and grind out tough wins. In the end, Marin's collective effort and teamwork led them to victory.
