Women's Soccer Fall to Solano in Tough Match-Up

10/25/2022 - College of Marin’s women’s soccer had a tough outing against Solano College in last week’s match. With a target of executing our plans well, our side entered the field and remained competitive for most of the game. Both sides got their chances. However, the Falcons capitalized and cashed in on the chances and converted them into goals.   

The game finished with a 5-0 scoreline in the opposition’s favor. However, the on-ground gameplay was much different from what’s portrayed by the scoreline. There were early chances for both sides. Towards the end of the first half, Solano College was leading the match 3-0. We were hoping to take the game to halftime and reconfigure our strategy for the next half. In the late moments of the. 

In the second half, Cyrene Paez led the attack and created scoring opportunities. There were multiple attempts on our post in the second half, but Thalia had some great moments on the defensive lines. The Mariners allowed two more goals late into the second half.    

Eventually, the game finished 5-0. It may seem like a one-sided story from score sheets. However, there was more to this game than what meets the eye. Even the management acknowledged this aspect of the game and commented: “There were some great stretches in this game where we were playing to our style of play. Although the score doesn’t reflect it, this was a close competitive game. Solano was able to score their chances; we were not as fortunate”.
