College of Marin Women's Soccer Team Concludes Strong 2023 Season

Wrapping up the 2023 season with determination and skill, the College of Marin Women's Soccer team secured a commendable third place in the competitive Bay Valley Conference (BVC), boasting a 9-10 overall record and an impressive 8-4 standing in BVC play. 

One of the standout moments of the season occurred on September 29th when the Mariners achieved their largest victory against the Meritt College Panthers with a resounding 6-1 win. Goals from Kelley Grant, Taylor Stull, Hailey Poulter, Stephanie Martinez, and a brace from Emmy Bergen showcased the team's prowess on the field. Despite a limited number of sophomores, the freshmen demonstrated their strength and impact throughout the season. 

Freshman standout Emmy Bergen made a significant impact in her inaugural season as a Mariner, tallying nine goals. Her remarkable performance placed her in 4th position in the BVC, 3rd in points (21), and 3rd in shots (35). 

In the goalkeeping department, freshman Bella Steinley emerged as a formidable presence, leading the BVC in goal saves with 115. Additionally, Steinley claimed the top spot in save percentage (.852) and tied for second in goals against (20). 

As the season comes to a close, the Mariners shift their focus from the field to the classroom, emphasizing academic excellence. The team is eagerly anticipating continued success in their studies and is already gearing up for the challenges and triumphs of the 2024 season.
