Women’s Soccer Defeats the Eagles in Conference Match

In a lively Bay Valley Conference opener on Tuesday, September 26th, in Ukiah, CA, the College of Marin Women's Soccer team emerged victorious against the Mendocino College Eagles.

A stellar performance from the Mariners, with the scoring divided between two standout players. Sophomore, Taylor Stull netted two goals in the first half, showcasing her skill as a key contributor to the Mariner's offensive. Taylor, now in her second season with the Mariners, has become an integral part of the team's relentless attack.

On the other hand, Freshman midfielder, Emmy Bergen also left her mark on the match by scoring two goals. Despite being a freshman, Emmy has demonstrated leadership through her actions on the field and her remarkable teamwork. She even contributed with two assists, further solidifying her importance to the team's success. Additionally, May Qui played a pivotal role by assisting in the final goal that secured the Mariner win.

Coach Pernille praised her team's performance, saying, "The girls came out with exceptional preparation, high energy, and an unwavering eagerness to win. Our passing combinations were executed flawlessly, resulting in four well-deserved goals. Our defense was phenomenal, dominating the backline and minimizing errors. It's evident that we are beginning to understand each other's strengths and playing to individual players' advantages. Keren and Hailey, as center-backs, complemented each other perfectly and shut down any attempts to penetrate our defense."

With this win under their belt, the Mariners are now geared up to face the Merritt College Panthers in their next match. The match is scheduled to take place at home on Friday, September 29th, at 2:00 PM.
