Mariners’ Volleyball Sweeps Past DVC Vikings 3-0

College of Marin Volleyball enjoyed a successful road trip to Pleasant Hill on Friday as they defeated the hosting Vikings of DVC 3-0. It was a balanced effort that saw contributions up and down the lineup. Marin was efficient throughout the match and avoided the final set downturn to pull out the win. Freshmen Remy Pelzman, Beatrice Heimbroadt and Kailani Kwan-Sy each had excellent performances in the match.

From the start the Mariners were the superior side, but Vikings kept it the opening set within striking distance. Marin did not waiver and pulled out an 25-18 set victory to set the tone of the match. They followed up with an equal score line in the second set before finishing off Diablo Valley with a 25-17 third set win.

Remy Pelzman was the Mariners top scorer with 14.5 points in the match. She recorded 10 kills and just two errors on 15 attacks and added three aces and 1.5 blocks. She even chipped in eight digs in the victory. Heimbrodt had five kills, three aces and three digs, while Kwan-Sy just missed a double double with six kills, three aces and nine digs on the day.

Magnolia Johnson shifted from starting libero to setter and did not miss a beat with 30 assists, three aces and four digs of her own.
