Volleyball Downed By SRJC 3-0 In Local Rivalry

College of Marin Volleyball continued the long-time rivalry with Santa Rosa Junior College on Friday. The Mariners visited the Bear Cubs and fell in three sets to their hosts. It was a competitive match, but the depth of Santa Rosa proved to be the difference as Marin was thwarted in their attempt of a road victory.

Santa Rosa took the first set by a score of 25-18. Marin did their best to keep pace, but hitting errors handed the match to the Bear Cubs. The second set was all Santa Rosa, hitting .417 with 16 kills and just one hitting error. Marin could not match their efficiency and took the loss 25-13. The final set saw a similar score line 25-14 to end the match.

Beatrice Heimbrodt led the Mariners with 10 points on the strength of eight kills, one ace and two block assists. She added an assist and five digs as she recorded her fourth double digit scoring match of the season. Jade Williams led the team with 11 digs and Makenzie Dugan added eight assists and six digs in the match.

It was the Mariners fifth consecutive defeat of their non-conference schedule. They last won at Diablo Valley College on September 6th.

Marin begins its 2019 BVC campaign on Wednesday, September 18th at Solano, before returning to non-conference play for a trio of matches.
