Mariners’ Volleyball Drops BVC Match To Los Medanos 3-1

College of Marin Volleyball played one of their best matches of year on Friday. Unfortunately, it was not quite enough to upend their hosts from Los Medanos. The Mariners fell to the Mustangs in four sets despite nearly identical kill percentages and eight total blocks. The teams split the first two sets before Los Medanos took the final two sets 25-20, and 25-20.

Marin looked to be up to the challenge in the first set, as they hit .200 with 11 kills against just four errors. Los Medanos was formidable as they hit .300 with 12 kills and just three errors. The end result was a win for the Mustangs 25-20.

The Mariners took advantage of the Mustangs' mistakes in the second set and grabbed a 25-16 win to even the match at 1-1.

Marin began to fade as the match continued, in the third set Los Medanos registered 16 kills while the Mariners managed just seven of their own. The 25-20 score of the third set was matched in the fourth set as Los Medanos prevented a Mariners' comeback.

Multiple Mariners contributed in the match for Marin led by Lara Perry and her 15 points. She registered eight kills, three aces, a solo block and six block assists as well as seven digs. Remy Pelzman led the team with 11 kills and 18 digs while Makenzie Dugan had two kills, 29 assists, nine digs and four block assists.

The Mariners had a season high eight total blocks and hit .124 for the match courtesy of 37 kills, against 19 errors on 145 total attacks.

The loss was Marin's second in BVC competition this season. They look to get on the winning side of the margin on Wednesday, October 2nd as the Mariners host the Napa Valley College Storm at 6pm
