Mariners Volleyball Crushes Contra Costa On The Road

An unfamiliar gym did little to slow down the Mariners as they stormed through the Contra Costa Comets at Pinole Valley Middle School. With the Comet's gym under construction, the Mariners were forced to compete elsewhere. The venue did not make a difference as Marin defeated their hosts in three sets, limiting Contra Costa to single digits in all three sets. The team played almost perfectly with a kill percentage of .314 and 23 service aces.

Marin started off strongly with a 25-8 first set victory. They hit .318 with 10 kills against just three errors. They improved in the second set, a 25-9 win. Marin had 10 kills against just one error in 30 total attacks. The Mariners avoided a letdown in the third set and recorded a 25-6 win to seal the match.

It was a team effort all around as five players registered four or more kills. Magnolia Johnson led the Mariners with seven of their 23 aces while Makenzie Dugan registered 17 assists as the team assisted on 25 of their 28 kills. Khadeejia Marcum had six kills on 11 attacks with no errors. She also added two aces and four digs.

The victory evened the Mariners' BVC record at 2-2. They host the Mendocino College Eagles on Wednesday, October 9th. First serve is scheduled for 6pm.
