Volleyball Crushes Contra Costa in Straight Sets

The Mariners showed no mercy to the Contra Costa Comets on Wednesday evening as they pummeled their visitors in all three sets of the match. Marin outpaced Contra Costa with double digit victories in each set. As a team the Mariners hit .344 with 31 kills against just 9 errors in the entire match.

The Mariners jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the opening set in route to a 25-7 shellacking to begin the match. They rested on their laurels a bit in the second set as Contra Costa kept in contact at 11-6 before Marin pulled away for a 25-14 win.  The third set felt like the first with Marin taking a 11-5 lead before finishing on a 14-1 run for a 25-6 score in the final set.

It was a day of firsts for the Mariners as Jade Williams started at Libero. Magnolia Johnson, Marin's normal starting Libero began the game at outside hitter and racked up six points and five digs in the process. Remy Pelzman was nearly perfect with 10 kills and just a single hitting error. Kailani Kwan-Sy had three kills and five aces while Makenzie Dugan set 25 assists for her teammates.

The win pushed the Mariners back over .500 at 6-5 in the BVC. They travel to Ukiah on Friday, November 8th for a showdown with the Mendocino College Eagles.
